SFH on MERS
***********

Following is the transcript of remarks made by the Secretary for Food and Health, Dr Ko Wing-man, after attending a public function this morning (June 6):

Reporter: The World Health Organization told the South China Morning Post this week that Hong Kong Government should urge its people to quarantine and monitor themselves if they suspect they have come into contact someone who has Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS). Is it a good idea and how can somebody medical unqualified know how to quarantine themselves?

Secretary for Food and Health: The infection control measures adopted by Hong Kong are already beyond what you have just said. In fact, for all people who had history of visiting a place affected by MERS and visiting high risk areas such as medical institutions, they should observe their health condition. If they have symptoms, they would have directly been taken to Infectious Disease Centre for investigation and isolation.
