The Acting Chief Executive, Mrs Carrie Lam, met the visiting Governor of Yunnan Province, Mr Chen Hao, at the Chief Executive's Office this morning (May 18) to exchange views on issues of mutual concern.

Mrs Lam said that the country is pressing ahead with the "One Belt, One Road" initiative, which could provide a promising future for Hong Kong-Yunnan co-operation. She added that Hong Kong could act as a "super-connector" for Yunnan's development, particularly in areas of financial and professional services, trade, maritime and tourism, to complement its implementation of "attracting investment" and "going global" strategies.

Noting that both Hong Kong and Yunnan belong to the Pan-Pearl River Delta (PPRD) provinces/regions and enjoy close economic and trade relations, Mrs Lam said she hopes that the two places could continue to make use of the PPRD platform to strengthen co-operation and bring about mutual benefits.
