The Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury, Professor K C Chan, will leave for Seoul in Korea tomorrow morning (May 18) for a three-day visit to learn more about the city's experience and initiatives in nurturing the developments of financial technologies (Fintech).
He will meet with key personnel of the financial regulator and the sector, including the Financial Services Commission, the Korea Financial Investment Association and the Korea Federation of Banks, to exchange views on issues of mutual interest.
To see the latest developments in the Korean Fintech sector, Professor Chan will also visit companies which provide mobile banking and financial services as well as investment programmes for Korean start-ups.
In addition, he will speak at a luncheon organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council to inform Korean investors about the investment opportunities in Hong Kong and Hong Kong's role as China's global financial centre.
Professor Chan will return to Hong Kong on Wednesday (May 20).
