Kenzymi Precision Limited was fined $120,000 at Fanling Magistrates' Courts today (May 5) for offences including late payment of wages, annual leave pay and long service payment under the Employment Ordinance. The prosecution was launched by the Labour Department.

The company failed to pay wages, annual leave pay and long service payment to one employee within seven days after the expiry of wage periods and the termination of employment as required by the ordinance. A total payment of about $185,400 was involved.

"The judgment has disseminated a strong message to all employers that they should pay employees wages and other termination payments in accordance with the Employment Ordinance," a spokesman for the Labour Department said.

"The Labour Department does not tolerate the above offences and will spare no effort in enforcing the law and protecting employees' statutory rights," the spokesman added.
