Fatal traffic accident in Western District

     Police are investigating a traffic accident in Western District today (April 21) in which a 57-year-old man died.
     About 10.11am, a heavy goods vehicle driven by a 39-year-old man was travelling along the westbound lane of Des Voeux Road West. When reaching near Wilmer Street, it reportedly knocked down the 57-year-old man who was crossing the road.
     The pedestrian, in unconscious state, was rushed to Queen Mary Hospital where he was certified dead at 10.50am.

     The driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death and is being detained pending further enquiries.
     Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Hong Kong Island, are underway.
