Following is the transcript of remarks made by the Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Gregory So, to the media on the "one trip per week" Individual Visit Endorsements at the Legislative Council Complex today (April 13):
Reporter: Mr So, yesterday there were already some online recruitments for Hong Kong people to take part in parallel goods trading. How exactly is this latest change in policy by the Mainland Government going to help tackle the illegal parallel goods trading?
Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development: As the Chief Executive has indicated this morning, parallel trading activities go on from both sides of the border. This measure ("one trip per week" Individual Visit Endorsements) will be very effective in dealing with mainland residents engaging in parallel trading activities. Along with that, there will be intensified effort, collaboration and co-operation between the authorities on both sides to tackle parallel trading. And I would caution people from Hong Kong who have otherwise plan or have an interest in engaging in these parallel activities to observe the relevant laws of the Mainland because these laws would be enforced. We do not want to invite any effort or consequence because they otherwise may infringe the Mainland laws.
