The Commissioner of the Hong Kong Police, Mr Tsang Wai-hung, today (April 13) in Hong Kong signed, on behalf of the Hong Kong Police (HKP), a Memorandum of Understanding with the Deputy Commissioner General of the Korean National Police Agency (KNPA), Mr Lee Sang-Won.
This is the first cooperation agreement signed between the HKP and the KNPA at the organisational level. The Memorandum of Understanding covers cooperation in different areas of policing and it symbolises the strengthening of collaboration and partnership between the two organisations.
ˇ§Working together, we place ourselves in a much more advantageous position to meet head on the challenges of transnational crime, particularly cyber and technology crime, and international terrorismˇ¨, Mr Tsang said at the signing ceremony.
Mr Lee remarked that, ˇ§The KNPA attaches great importance to cooperation with the HKP. And I believe it is important for our two agencies to establish stronger cooperation to ensure safety and security in Asia by countering the threats of terrorism and transnational crime.ˇ¨
Mr Lee assumed his current position in December 2014 and this is his first official visit to Hong Kong. He is also the most senior officer from the KNPA to visit Hong Kong since Mr Tsang visited South Korea in 2011.
