SCED speaks to media on non-renewal of ATV's licence (2)
********************************************************

Reporter: Mr So, Ip Ka-po said ATV should be given a second chance if major changes are being conducted. Is it a possibility there?

Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development: The decision of the Chief Executive in Council is final. There is no appeal process. ATV has been given reasonable time, more than reasonable. We have considered a whole spectrum of factors. Reasonable time has been given to ATV to make representation. Therefore, on that basis, the decision has been made.

Reporter: Will additional resources be given to RTHK?

Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development: It really has to see what arrangement we have come up with RTHK as to which kind of programme that will be provided and of course the resources that will be needed in order to provide the services. I cannot comment right now because the whole event only happened late afternoon yesterday. We barely have time to talk to our colleagues at RTHK. I am sure that they always provide very good quality service. I think they really have the best interest of the community in mind. They will try their best to come up with attractive programmes for the audience in Hong Kong.
