The Secretary for Food and Health, Dr Ko Wing-man, visited Tai Po District this afternoon (March 20) to inspect a site proposed for public columbarium development, and to learn more about the public market services in the district. He also met Tai Po district councillors to hear their views on various local issues.
Accompanied by the District Officer (Tai Po), Mr Bassanio So, Dr Ko first inspected a site at the southwestern corner of the Shuen Wan ex-Landfill (near Tai Po Industrial Estate). He was briefed on the plan for building a public columbarium there and the required technical feasibility assessments.
Dr Ko then visited meat and vegetable stalls and the cooked food centre in Tai Po Hui Market. During the visit, he talked to stall tenants to have a better understanding of their business operation.
The visit concluded with a meeting with members of the Tai Po District Council to discuss district matters under the purview of the Food and Health Bureau.
