Draft Tai Ho Development Permission Area Plan approved

     The Chief Executive in Council has approved the draft Tai Ho Development Permission Area (DPA) Plan.

     "The approved DPA Plan provides guidance for planning and facilitates development control within the Tai Ho area during the period required for detailed analysis of the land use pattern, study of infrastructural provisions and examination of development options for the formulation of an outline zoning plan (OZP)," a spokesman for the Town Planning Board said today (March 20).

     The Planning Scheme Area, covering an area of about 230 hectares comprising about 32 hectares of sea area (Tai Ho Wan) and about 198 hectares of land area.

     About 1.27 hectares of the land area is zoned "Village Type Development" to reflect the existing recognised village.  

     About 4.64 hectares of the area is zoned "Site of Special Scientific Interest" covering the Tai Ho Stream Site of Special Scientific Interest designated in 1999, which includes a natural stream (Tai Ho Stream), several tributaries running from upland to the lowland estuary and a stretch of mangrove stand of about 2 hectares at the Tai Ho Stream estuary.

     About 192.49 hectares of land area is designated as "Unspecified Use", pending detailed analysis and studies to establish the appropriate land uses in the course of preparing an OZP.

     The approved Tai Ho DPA Plan No. DPA/I-TH/2 is now available for public inspection during office hours at the Secretariat of the Town Planning Board, the Planning Enquiry Counters of the Planning Department in North Point and Sha Tin, the Sai Kung and Islands District Planning Office, the Islands District Office and the Mui Wo Rural Committee.

     Copies of the approved DPA Plan are available for sale at the Map Publications Centres in North Point and Yau Ma Tei. The electronic version of the DPA Plan can be viewed at the Town Planning Board's website (www.info.gov.hk/tpb).
