CSSA caseload for February

     The overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) caseload in February showed a drop of 1 076 cases, representing a decrease of 0.4 per cent compared to that of January, according to the latest CSSA caseload statistics released by the Social Welfare Department today (March 18).

     The total CSSA caseload at the end of February stood at 251 404 (see attached table), with a total of 378 150 recipients.

     Analysed by case nature, unemployment cases registered a month-to-month decrease of 1.4 per cent to 18 131 cases; ill-health cases and low-earnings cases both registered a month-to-month decrease of 0.7 per cent, to 24 723 cases and 7 416 cases respectively. Single-parent cases and old-age cases showed decreases of 0.6 per cent and 0.2 per cent to 29 218 cases and 148 811 cases respectively. Permanent disability cases also dropped by 0.1 per cent to 18 232 cases.
