The Commissioner of Police, Mr Tsang Wai-hung, officiated at the Senior Police Call (SPC) First Anniversary cum Slogan Composition Contest Presentation Ceremony at the Police Sports and Recreation Club today (March 17).
Other officiating guests included the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Management), Mr Lo Wai-chung, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations), Mr Wong Chi-hung and the Chairman of the SPC Central Advisory Board, Mr Chung Siu-yeung. Some 500 elders and guests attended the ceremony.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Tsang acknowledged the achievements of SPC in the past year and credited the efforts to working partners and SPC members. Mr Tsang encouraged SPC members to continue to help disseminate anti-crime and road safety messages, and at the same time share the joy of helping and serving others.
During the year, the SPC organised a series of major events targeting the elderly community, including Investment Scam Seminars between April and August, the World Cup Anti-illegal Soccer Gambling Campaign in June, and the Slogan Composition Contest between September and October.
At the ceremony today, awards were presented to 18 winners of the Slogan Composition Contest. The winning slogans, carrying fight crime and road safety messages, would be used in SPC promotion in the coming year.
Established in February 2014, the SPC Scheme aims to promote crime prevention, fight crime, domestic and road safety messages to the elderly. As at today, the SPC has more than 4,500 members.
