Russian puppet show "An Unusual Concert" to be staged in April
*********************************************************

The puppet show "An Unusual Concert" by Moscow State Puppet Theatre Named After Sergey Obraztsov will be staged in April as one of the major attractions of the Festival of Russian Culture in Hong Kong.

This is one of the most famous puppet shows of the 20th century. Premiered in 1946, it has been performed more than 10,000 times around the world and is listed in the Guinness Book of Records as a performance with the largest number of viewers in the world.

The show is a comic puppet variety show in the form of a series of parodies of popular concerts featuring singers, musicians, dancers, trainers and jugglers. The lead puppet, Edward Aplombov, who has the gift of readily bringing smiles to the audience's faces and winning long, roaring applause, is a gifted polyglot who can tell jokes and deliver puns in 24 languages.

"An Unusual Concert" is one of Sergey Obraztsov's best known puppet shows. Considered a masterpiece of puppeteering that satirises bad performers, it appeals to both children and adults.

"An Unusual Concert" by Moscow State Puppet Theatre Named After Sergey Obraztsov will be staged at 7.30pm from April 7 to 9 (Tuesday to Thursday) at the Auditorium of Sha Tin Town Hall.
