The following is issued on behalf of the Hong Kong Housing Authority:

The annual Estate Management Services Contractors (EMSC) Awards presentation ceremony, hosted by the Hong Kong Housing Authority (HA), was held today (March 11). A total of 39 awards were presented to estate management services contractors, estate managers and front-line staff in recognition of their outstanding performance in managing the HA's properties in the past year.

Officiating at the awards presentation ceremony, the Deputy Director of Housing (Estate Management), Mr Albert Lee, commended the winners for their contribution to quality management services in public housing. "The service contractors and our housing staff have been partnering well to provide quality management services for public housing estates and, as a result, a pleasant and safe environment for our residents and commercial tenants," he said.

He encouraged the contractors and practitioners to continue efforts in raising service standards in estate management and maintenance, and support the HA in creating quality homes for public housing residents.

Currently, more than half of the management of the HA's public rental housing estates is outsourced to property services agents, and many maintenance tasks in HA estates are carried out by contractors. The HA regularly assesses the work performance of its contractors and reviews its outsourcing strategy to ensure their delivery of quality services.

The EMSC Awards is organised annually with the aim of facilitating experience sharing among service contractors and to further enhance management efficiency. Winners are determined based on the combined scores given by the assessment panel, the Housing Department's supervisory teams, feedback from the Estate Management Advisory Committees and the results of random surveys conducted among residents.

The awardees include 13 property, cleaning and security services contractors and car park operators, seven estate managers and 10 front-line staff members. The awards presented to front-line staff came from two new categories introduced this year: Best Property Management Staff (Estate Management) and Best Property Management Staff (Maintenance).

The estates managed by the winners of Best Public Rental Housing Estate (Property Services) include Cheung Ching Estate, Shek Lei (II) Estate, Ching Ho Estate, Yau Lai Estate, Cheung Sha Wan Estate, Fu Tung Estate, Shui Pin Wai Estate and Sheung Lok Estate.
