Second invitation to electric taxi suppliers to set up quick chargers at government car parks
************************************************************

The Environmental Protection Department (EPD) today (March 5) launched a second exercise inviting electric taxi suppliers to submit proposals on setting up quick chargers at six government car parks administered by the Transport Department under a pilot scheme for a period of three years.

An EPD spokesman said, "The pilot scheme was launched in May 2014. We received one proposal in the last exercise and are now working with an electric taxi supplier to set up four quick chargers under the scheme with the aim of providing charging services for electric taxis starting from June. To fully utilise the car parks earmarked for the scheme, we are inviting existing or potential electric taxi suppliers to submit proposals to set up quick chargers at the remaining parking spaces."

The terms for setting up the quick chargers are largely the same as those announced in May 2014, the Government will provide the power supply connection to parking spaces and signboards indicating the availability of quick chargers. Details of the relevant terms are available on the EPD website
(www.epd.gov.hk/epd/english/environmentinhk/air/prob_solutions/promotion_ev.html).

Interested electric taxi suppliers should submit their proposals to the EPD on or before April 8. For enquiries, please call 2594 6372.
