Appointments to Committee on Financial Assistance for Family Members of those who Sacrifice their Lives to Save Others

     The Government announced today (February 13) the appointment of one new member and the re-appointment of three incumbent members to the Committee on Financial Assistance for Family Members of those who Sacrifice their Lives to Save Others for a term of two years.

     The new appointed member is Ms Liu Po-chu. Ms Liu is a professional accountant and currently serves on the Employees Compensation Assistance Fund Board.

     The three incumbent members re-appointed are Mr Weber Lo Wai-pak, Ms Annissa Lui Wai-ling and Mr Suen Kai-cheong.

     The Secretary for Labour and Welfare, Mr Matthew Cheung Kin-chung, welcomed the appointment and re-appointments. He also thanked the outgoing member, Ms Ng Wai-yee, for her contribution to the work of the Committee during her tenure.

     The Committee considers and approves applications under the Financial Assistance Scheme for Family Members of those who Sacrifice their Lives to Save Others. The Scheme represents the Government's recognition of the brave acts and sacrifice undertaken by these individuals and seeks to alleviate the financial hardship that their family members may face as a consequence of their death.
