Hong Kong welcomes the Year of the Ram in Finland and Norway (with photos)

     The Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, London (London ETO) has kicked off its 2015 Chinese New Year celebrations in countries under its purview by holding events in Finland and Norway.

     The London ETO started celebrating the Year of the Ram with Chinese New Year receptions in Helsinki, Finland on February 4 and in Oslo, Norway on February 5. Both events were attended by representatives of the government, business and academic sectors, etc.  In particular, the Oslo reception featured a music performance by renowned Hong Kong cellist, Mr Trey Lee.

     The key speaker at the Helsinki and Oslo events was the Director-General of the London ETO, Ms Erica Ng. At both receptions, Ms Ng highlighted Hong Kong's unique advantages and the strong links between Hong Kong and Finland and Norway.

     In Helsinki, Ms Ng praised Finland's flourishing information and communications technology as well as design industries. "I believe that our shared passion for technology offers numerous and exciting opportunities for collaboration between Finland and Hong Kong," she said.

     In Oslo, Ms Ng described opportunities for Norwegian companies in Hong Kong's maritime industry, infrastructure projects and environmental protection initiatives. She encouraged Norwegian companies to go to Hong Kong in order to capture the opportunities in Mainland China and other parts of Asia.

     Other key speakers at the events were the Director-General of Investment Promotion, Mr Simon Galpin, and the Nordic Consultant of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), Ms Madelene Kornfehl.

     The Chinese New Year receptions were co-organised by the London ETO, HKTDC and local business associations, namely the Finland¡VHong Kong Trade Association and the Norway¡VHong Kong Chamber of Commerce. The London ETO will be holding further Chinese New Year receptions in other countries under its purview during February and March.
