Following is the transcript of remarks by the Secretary for Labour and Welfare, Mr Matthew Cheung Kin-chung, on the wage claims by ATV employees today (January 26):
Reporter: Mr Cheung, what will the Government do in order to solve the ATV salary problem?
Secretary for Labour and Welfare: We are helping the employees on various fronts. First of all, in terms of prosecution, in fact the Shatin Magistrates' Courts will conduct a hearing this coming Friday in respect of 34 summonses laid against ATV and also one particular director. And also, on February 2, Monday next week, hearings will also commence at the Labour Tribunal in respect of a number of claims lodged with the Government. We are helping the employees to really protect their interests, first of all. And also, we are in close touch with the Department of Justice, and we expect a quick decision to be coming out very soon. I can assure you that we will certainly take vigilant action to enforce the law.
