About 5 600 vacancies on offer at North District Recruitment and Training Expo 2015

     The Labour Department, the Social Services, Labour and Economic Affairs Committee of North District Council and the Hong Kong Youth Power Association will co-organise the North District Recruitment and Training Expo 2015 at Lung Sum Avenue Sports Centre in Sheung Shui on January 21.

     A total of 65 organisations will participate in the Expo. Fifty-five organisations, mainly from the retail, catering and property management industries, offering about 5 600 vacancies, will set up counters and conduct on-the-spot recruitment. Ten training and social services organisations will provide information on training courses and offer job counselling services to visitors. Thematic talks on employment opportunities for matured workers, and the latest developments of employment and training in the retail industry are scheduled for the afternoon. Construction skill demonstrations will also be arranged.

     The vacancies offered cover a wide variety of positions including instructor, programmer, clerk, technician, courier, salesperson, cashier, shop assistant, cook, waiter/waitress, security guard, driver, storekeeper and others.      Around 68 per cent of the vacancies are full-time jobs. Most vacancies offer monthly salaries ranging from $8,000 to $15,000. Over 99 per cent of the vacancies require a Secondary Six education level or below. Around 76 per cent are open to job seekers who may lack relevant experience.

     Job seekers can submit applications on the spot and may be selected for on-site interviews. They can also register for employment services and make enquiries about applying for the Work Incentive Transport Subsidy at the Labour Department's counter.

     The Expo will be held from 11am to 5.30pm at Lung Sum Avenue Sports Centre, 155 Jockey Club Road, Sheung Shui (Next to the grass pitch at North District Sports Ground). Admission is free.
