Police open fire
****************

Police are investigating a Police open fire case.

At the small hours today (January 12), police officers of Hung Hom Division conducted an anti-theft operation in Hung Hom. At about 5am, an officer found a man aged from 20 to 30 stole some newspaper in Man Tai Street and boarding a light goods vehicle (LGV). The officer tried to intercept him. A woman aged about 18 years old was also in the LGV.

The two suspects ignored the warnings of the officer and struggled with him. The LGV was driven away from Man Tai Street and later stopped on Chatham Road South in Yau Ma Tei. The officer was then pushed out of the LGV and his calf was rolled over by the vehicle. The suspects fled away in the LGV towards Yau Ma Tei along Chatham Road South.

In the incident, the officer fired four shots.

Investigations by the Regional Crime Unit of Kowloon West Region are underway. Anyone who may have witnessed the case or has any information to offer is urged to contact the investigating officers on 9193 3324.
