Transcript of remarks by CE at media session (with photos/video)
***************************************************

Following is the transcript of remarks by the Chief Executive, Mr C Y Leung, at a media session after visiting the show flats of the Sale of Home Ownership Scheme Flats 2014 at Domain, Yau Tong, this afternoon (December 22):

Reporter: Can we have a statement in English please?

Chief Executive: One of the key policy areas of the present-term Government is to address housing shortage in Hong Kong. Although we have implemented a number of demand management measures to manage down speculative investment and external demand, we realise that prices and rents have been going up in recent months. The basic approach to addressing our housing problem is to increase supply and also to increase the supply of subsidised flats for sale. The Secretary for Transport and Housing and I and other colleagues came here to visit a model flat that belongs to the new phase of Home Ownership Scheme projects. There will be five such projects in four districts in Hong Kong, namely Tsuen Wan, Tsing Yi, Yuen Long and Sha Tin, totalling 2,160 units. The application forms will be available from tomorrow onwards and the balloting will take place in March, and those who are qualified and those who are balloted will be able to select the units in May. We'll use our best endeavour to increase supply of housing units on all fronts, including the supply of units that are available for sale at subsidised prices.
