Police handle cases of surrender in accordance with procedures in a fair and impartial manner
****************************************************

In response to media enquiries on organisers of illegal occupation and relevant persons surrendering to Central Police Station today (December 3), a Police spokesman stated that up to 4.30 pm today, a total of 24 persons, including 18 males and six females aged between 33 and 82, attended Central Police Station and surrendered for the offence of 'taking part in an unauthorised assembly'.

In this incident of surrender by persons taking part in illegal occupation, before they left the police station, they were explicitly told by the interviewing officers that illegal occupation of public places was an unlawful act and they should stop such act immediately.  Police will conduct follow-up investigations based on the information provided.

Police hope that the persons surrendered could follow Police arrangement so as to minimise the impacts on the provision of normal services to the general public.

Police emphasise that irrespective of the occupation and background of the persons involved, Police will handle every case in a fair and impartial manner.
