Police arrest seven police officers for assault occasioning actual bodily harm

     Regarding a case in which a man was suspectedly assaulted on Lung Wo Road in Central, a Police spokesman said that upon further investigation and seeking legal advice, Police today (November 26) arrested seven interdicted officers for "assault occasioning actual bodily harm".
 
     The arrest action is made today in accordance with the procedures and the progress of the investigation. Police emphasised that there is no delay in the handling of the case. The complainant has confirmed his presence at an identification parade to be conducted today, but he failed to turn up. Police hope that he will assist in our investigation work soonest. The complaint is being handled by the Special Investigation Team of the Complaints Against Police Office (CAPO) in a criminal investigation. Collection of evidence and investigation of the case is ongoing. Police will seek advice from the Department of Justice when the investigation is completed.
 
     Police also noticed that some people earlier claimed they would express their discontent towards the way Police handling the case by committing uncooperative acts to affect the service of police stations.
 
     The spokesman pointed out that such acts show a lack of civic-mindedness and selfishness and will affect Police¡¦s normal service to the public. Police have been handling complaints related to the conduct of a Police officer while on duty or in the execution of his duties according to normal and established procedures under which the complaints are to be investigated by CAPO. For the greater interests of the general public, he appeals to those people to refrain from committing any selfish acts.
 
     Police reiterate that if any Force member commits illegal acts, Police will handle this seriously and investigation will be conducted in a fair and impartial manner.
