CSSA caseload for October

     The overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) caseload in October showed a drop of 762 cases, representing a decrease of 0.3 per cent, when compared to that in September, according to the latest CSSA caseload statistics released by the Social Welfare Department today (November 19).

     The total CSSA caseload at the end of October stood at 254 773 (see attached table), with a total of 383 377 recipients.

     Analysed by case nature, low earnings cases registered a month-to-month decrease of 2.8 per cent to 7 802 cases. Single parent cases and ill-health cases also showed decreases of 0.7 per cent and 0.5 per cent to 29 774 cases and 25 007 cases respectively. Unemployment cases and permanent disability cases also dropped by 0.3 per cent and 0.2 per cent to 19 336 cases and 18 282 cases respectively. Old age cases showed a decrease of 0.1 per cent to 149 470 cases.
