HA submits applications for Limited Registration to Medical Council
************************************************************

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

The Hospital Authority (HA) today (November 17) submitted to the Medical Council of Hong Kong (MCHK) the applications of three non-local doctors for Limited Registration to serve in public hospitals. At the same time, the renewal applications of Limited Registration for four serving non-local doctors were also submitted.

"Facing acute doctor manpower and workload issues in certain clinical units, the recruitment of non-local doctors has been supported by the respective Central Co-ordinating Committees and endorsed by the HA Task Force on Limited Registration Scheme," the HA spokesman said.

The HA has advertised early this year for the recruitment of non-local doctors under Limited Registration for the specialties under the most pressure. Three applicants of non-local doctors were submitted to the MCHK today: one in Anaesthesia, one in Family Medicine and one in Internal Medicine.

For the renewal applications of Limited Registration for four non-local doctors (two in Anaesthesia, one in Family Medicine and one in Internal Medicine), their one-year Limited Registration will expire in early 2015.

The HA is looking forward to the favourable consideration of the MCHK for the applications and will continue to exhaust every effort to relieve the current manpower shortfall situation.
