SCED attends APEC ministerial meeting in Beijing (with photos)

     The Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Gregory So, attended the 26th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Ministerial Meeting (AMM) in Beijing today (November 7), and met with trade ministers of other member economies on the margins.

     In the morning, Mr So met with the Minister of Commerce, Mr Gao Hucheng, to exchange views on commercial and trade matters of mutual concern. He also had a bilateral meeting with the Minister of Trade of Indonesia, Mr Rahmat Gobel, to discuss issues of mutual concern.

     In the afternoon, Mr So attended the AMM, which reviewed the achievements of APEC over the past 25 years and discussed ways to enhance the APEC's role in the evolving global and regional contexts. The meeting also discussed ways to strengthen the Asia-Pacific partnership and to take forward the priorities of strengthening comprehensive connectivity and infrastructure development. Mr So had meetings with the Secretary of Trade and Industry of the Philippines, Mr Gregory Domingo; the Second Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Brunei, Pehin Dato Lim Jock Seng; and the Minister of International Trade and Industry of Malaysia, Dato Sri Mustapa Mohamed, on the margins.    

     Mr So will continue to attend the AMM tomorrow.
