A total of 178 wet goods stalls and three fast food stalls were successfully let in an auction for stalls at the 2015 Victoria Park Lunar New Year Fair starting today (November 3).

More than 570 people attended the auction at Queen Elizabeth Stadium in Wan Chai from 9am to 6.35pm today, a spokesman for the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department said.

The average bid price for the wet goods stalls was $18,951, with the successful bids ranging from $9,590 to $63,000. The highest bid of $63,000 was almost seven times the opening price of $9,590.

The auction of wet goods stalls fetched a total of $3,373,360, compared with $3,313,500 last year.

For the fast food stalls, the 7.6 x 4.8 metre stall was bid at $570,000, against an opening price of $330,650. The winning bids for the two 5 x 4 metre stalls were $410,000 and $360,000, against an opening price of $177,110.

The auction for the eight thematic stalls and 284 dry goods stalls will be held at 9am tomorrow (November 4) and on Wednesday (November 5) at the same venue.

The spokesman reminded the successful bidders not to assign, sublet, transfer or otherwise part with any of the benefits or obligations of this licensing agreement. Otherwise, the Department may terminate the agreement and the licensee shall immediately vacate the stalls. Licence fee would not be refunded.
