*******************************************************

The Labour Department will hold a two-day large-scale job fair at the Domain shopping mall in Yau Tong on November 5 and 6, with a view to enhancing the employment opportunities of job seekers including those from ethnic minorities.

A total of 62 organisations, mainly from the catering, property management, retail and transport industries, offering about 5 800 vacancies, will participate in the fair. Some of the vacancies with lower language requirements are suitable for job seekers with different experience and diverse cultural backgrounds. Thirty-one participating organisations will set up counters and conduct on-the-spot recruitment each day. In addition, some job advertisements that may be suitable for ethnic minority job seekers have also been selected for display.

The vacancies offered cover a wide variety of positions such as traffic and guest attendant, cafe trainee, bell attendant, customer services officer, operator, waiter/waitress, shop assistant, cook, technician, security guard, driver, warehouse assistant and cleaner. Job seekers can find more information on the department's Interactive Employment Service website (www.jobs.gov.hk).

Around 76 per cent of the vacancies are full-time jobs. Most vacancies offer monthly salaries ranging from $8,000 to $15,000. Over 98 per cent of the vacancies require a Secondary Six education level or below. Around 74 per cent are open to job seekers who may lack relevant experience.

Job seekers can submit applications on the spot and may be selected for on-site interviews. They can also register for employment services at the Labour Department's counter.

The job fair will be held from 11am to 5.30pm at the Atrium, G/F, Domain, Yau Tong (38 Ko Chiu Road, Yau Tong, Kowloon; MTR Yau Tong Station Exit A1). Admission is free.
