The Labour Department will hold a large-scale three-day job fair at Discovery Park Shopping Centre in Tsuen Wan from October 21 to 23. The first day of the recruitment event will focus on vacancies in the retail industry, while on October 22 and 23 the fair will offer vacancies in catering, business services, property management and other industries. Thirty-four participating organisations will set up counters and conduct on-the-spot recruitment each day.
A total of 102 organisations, offering about 7 700 vacancies, will participate in the fair. The vacancies offered cover a wide variety of positions such as store manager, cashier salesperson, customer service ambassador, receptionist, waiter/waitress, shop assistant, kitchen assistant, technician, security guard, driver, warehouse assistant and cleaner. Job seekers can find more information on the department's Interactive Employment Service website (www.jobs.gov.hk).
Around 78 per cent of the vacancies are for full-time jobs. Most vacancies offer monthly salaries ranging from $8,000 to $15,000. Over 98 per cent of the vacancies require a Secondary Six education level or below. Around 64 per cent are open to job seekers who may lack relevant experience.
Job seekers can submit applications on the spot and may be selected for on-site interviews. They can also register for employment services at the Labour Department's counter.
The job fair will be held from 11am to 5.30pm at Sky Dome Atrium, Level 1, Discovery Park Shopping Centre, Tsuen Wan (MTR Tsuen Wan Station Exit A3). Admission is free.
