An exhibition entitled "Hong Kong in Miniature", which showcases Hong Kong's lifestyle and culture, was launched in Tokyo, Japan, today (October 13).

The exhibition features 39 miniature models that capture the uniqueness and vibrancy of Hong Kong. Created by 14 artists active in Hong Kong, these models present some of Hong Kong's cherished traditions, its unique culture, the cityscape and details of daily life. The exhibits portray scenes including the Tai Hang Fire Dragon Dance, the Cheung Chau Bun Festival, the Lam Tsuen Wishing Tree, a walled-village "big bowl feast" and old streets and shops in Hong Kong.

The Principal Hong Kong Economic and Trade Representative (Tokyo), Ms Sally Wong, said that the exhibition aims to promote a better understanding of Hong Kong life by Japanese people and enhance Hong Kong's attractiveness as a travel destination.

"These models vividly depict the essence of Hong Kong's culture and heritage, which is a fascinating blend of East and West, the old and the new. These exquisitely made miniature artworks, showcasing the unique attractions of our cosmopolitan city, also demonstrate the creativity and dedication of Hong Kong artists," she said.

The exhibition is organised by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (Tokyo) and supported by the Hong Kong Tourism Board. It is being held in Sunshine City in Ikebukuro, Tokyo, until October 23.

A similar exhibition was held in Osaka in March this year as part of the Hong Kong promotion efforts there. It was viewed by more than 30,000 visitors and very positive feedback was received.
