Government officials to attend PPRD Forum in Guangzhou

     Senior officials of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government will visit Guangzhou from October 11 to 13 to attend the 10th Pan-Pearl River Delta (Pan-PRD) Regional Co-operation and Development Forum and Trade Fair co-organised by Hong Kong, Guangdong and Macao.

     On behalf of the HKSAR Government, the Chief Secretary for Administration, Mrs Carrie Lam; the Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Gregory So; the Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, Mr Raymond Tam; and the Secretary for Development, Mr Paul Chan, will leave for Guangzhou on October 11 to attend the welcome dinner of the Forum. The delegation will attend the opening ceremony and the High-Level Forum, as well as the Pan-PRD¡EHK Business Networking Luncheon and the Pan-PRD¡EHK Trade Symposium co-organised by the HKSAR Government and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council on the next day. Mrs Lam will also deliver speeches at the Networking Luncheon, the Trade Symposium and the High-Level Forum.

     The Chief Executive, Mr C Y Leung, will arrive in Guangzhou in the evening of October 12 and join the delegation on October 13 to attend a joint conference with leaders of the governments of various Pan-PRD provinces and the Macao Special Administrative Region.

     Also included on the visit will be the Private Secretary to the Chief Executive, Mr Carlson Chan; the Senior Special Assistant to the Chief Executive, Mr Chan Kin-ping; and the Deputy Director of Information Services, Mr Matthew Leung.

     Except for the Chief Secretary for Administration, who will return to Hong Kong on October 12 after finishing her visit in Guangzhou, the Chief Executive and rest of the government delegation will return to Hong Kong in the afternoon of October 13. During the Chief Executive's absence, the Chief Secretary for Administration will be the Acting Chief Executive, while the Secretary for Labour and Welfare, Mr Matthew Cheung Kin-chung, will act as Chief Secretary for Administration during the latter's absence. During the absence of the Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, the Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs and the Secretary for Development, their respective Under Secretaries will be the acting Heads of Bureaux.
