Police investigate death of a police officer

     Police are investigating the death of a police officer in North Point Police Station today (October 1).

     At about 2.40am, Police found an off-duty expatriate Chief Inspector, aged 50, attached to Eastern District Crime Headquarters, unconscious inside his office. He had gun shot wounds on his temples, and was later certified dead at scene.

     Upon initial investigation, it is believed that he committed suicide with his service pistol.

     A post-mortem examination will be conducted on the deceased to ascertain his cause of death.

     Investigations by Regional Crime Unit of Hong Kong Island are underway.
