Police appeal to protestors to express views peacefully and rationally
************************************************************

Police noted that an organisation is planning to conduct a procession to Government House for a public meeting outside the venue this evening (September 25). Police have contacted the organisation and urged it to notify us according to the law so that we could facilitate the activities to be conducted in a lawful and safe manner. However, the organisation has thus far not notified Police according to the law.

A Police spokesman said we will maintain liaison with the organisation and implement appropriate crowd safety management measures in order to ensure that the activities will be conducted in a safe and orderly manner.

The organisation yesterday also conducted a public procession in Central without any prior notice to Police according to the law. The police officers at scene had issued warnings to the participants with regard to their illegal activities.

Police emphasise that we respect the public's freedoms of expression, speech and assembly. Members of the public should comply with the laws of Hong Kong and maintain social order when expressing their views. Police appeal to the participants of the public event to act peacefully and rationally.
