Invest Hong Kong (InvestHK) hosted a seminar in Warsaw today (September 25) to attract Polish businesses with global vision to set up in Hong Kong and grow their businesses.

The seminar featured a keynote address delivered by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government's Director-General of Investment Promotion, Mr Simon Galpin, plus case studies of Polish ventures using Hong Kong as a springboard to launch into Mainland China and beyond.

Speaking to an audience of over 100 entrepreneurs and business leaders in the Polish capital, Mr Galpin called on Polish entrepreneurs to look beyond Europe and bring their business to Hong Kong.

"The Asian economy is growing fast and Mainland China in particular is leading that growth. Hong Kong has a unique geographic location at the doorstep of Mainland China as well as the region's centre, offering an unrivalled platform for Polish companies to gain a foothold in the region," Mr Galpin said.

"Our city is a top destination for overseas investors, many of them from Europe. There aren't too many Polish companies in Hong Kong, so there is a window for them to come and take advantage of the business opportunities Hong Kong has to offer," he added.

Mr Galpin said that Hong Kong's role as China's global window is growing fast, citing the city's position as the biggest offshore Renminbi centre with deposits exceeding RMB925 billion as at June 2014. Other advantages include its strong rule of law, easy business incorporation, deep pool of talent, sophisticated funding channels, and growing technology and research and development sectors, he added.

Other speakers in the seminar included Director European Operations, Europa Corporation Ltd., Mr Antoni Roszczuk; Director, China Practice in Poland, KPMG, Mr Andrzej Kaczmarek; and Corporate Banking Manager, HSBC Bank Polska S.A., Mr Marcin Mitko.
