SHA congratulates HK athletes on winning medals at Asian Games

     The Secretary for Home Affairs, Mr Tsang Tak-sing, extended his congratulations to Hong Kong rowing athlete Lok Kwan-hoi for winning a gold medal in the Lightweight Men's Single Sculls event at the 17th Asian Games Incheon 2014 today (September 24). This is also the first time that the Hong Kong team has won a gold medal in a rowing event at the Asian Games.

     Moreover, other Hong Kong athletes also won a further three medals. Rowing athletes Chow Kwong-wing and Tang Chiu-mang won the silver medal in Lightweight Men's Double Sculls. Rowing athlete Lee Ka-man won a silver medal in Women's Single Sculls. Fencing athletes Cheng Hiu-lam, Kimberley Vanessa Cheung, Lin Po-heung and Liu Yan-wai won the bronze medal in Women's Foil Team.
 
     "Hong Kong athletes have displayed great perseverance, tenacity and sportsmanship. Hong Kong people are proud of their outstanding achievements," Mr Tsang said.

     He encouraged other athletes to keep up their efforts to further demonstrate the Hong Kong team's courage and stamina at the Games.

     The Hong Kong team has so far won 15 medals, including two gold medals, three silver medals and 10 bronze medals, at the Incheon Asian Games.
