CE saddened by death of Dr Marvin Cheung

     The Chief Executive, Mr C Y Leung, today (September 13) expressed his profound sadness at the passing of Dr Marvin Cheung.

     Dr Cheung held various key positions before and after the reunification. These included member of the then Legislative Council and Urban Council, member of the Executive Council, Chairman of the Airport Authority Hong Kong, Chairman of the Council of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Member of the Council of the Open University of Hong Kong, Chairman of the Supervisory Committee for the Tracker Fund of Hong Kong as well as Independent Non-executive Director of the Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited, etc. Dr Cheung made valuable contribution to Hong Kong and was awarded the Gold Bauhinia Star in 2008.

     "Over the years, Dr Cheung dedicated himself to serving the Hong Kong community and held a number of key public service positions. He made tremendous contributions to the public services, financial services and education in Hong Kong. On behalf of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, I would like to extend my deepest condolences to Dr Cheung's family," the Chief Executive said.
