The Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Gregory So, will depart for Nanjing tomorrow (September 4) to attend the 21st Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) Ministerial Meeting to be held on September 5.
Under the main theme "Innovation and Sustainability", APEC ministers will discuss three sub-themes - increasing innovation capacities of SMEs, improving the policy environment for SMEs' innovation, and promoting SMEs' growth through innovation. Mr So will speak on the initiatives to support SMEs' innovation in Hong Kong at the meeting.
After attending the Ministerial Meeting, Mr So will return to Hong Kong on Saturday morning (September 6), and then he will immediately depart for Shenzhen to officiate at the opening ceremony of the 1st HK-SZ Design Biennale.
Mr So will be back in Hong Kong on Saturday afternoon. The Under Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Godfrey Leung, will be the Acting Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development during Mr So's absence.
