Following is the transcript of remarks by the Chief Executive, Mr C Y Leung, at a media session at the ground floor lobby of the Office of the Chief Executive at Tamar today (August 31) on the Decision of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress on Issues Relating to the Selection of the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region by Universal Suffrage and on the Method for Forming the Legislative Council of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in the Year 2016:

Reporter: Mr Leung, do you find the proposal acceptable to the people of Hong Kong and how confident are you that you will secure, the Government will secure a two-thirds majority in LegCo?

Chief Executive: We have work to do, we have a lot of work to do and we will ask the people of Hong Kong to understand that this is the first time, the first time ever, in the history of Hong Kong that eligible voters will be given, and each and every one of them, will be given the right to vote in the universal suffrage to elect the leader of this government, and the leader of this city. It is a precious offer from the National People's Congress Standing Committee. Obviously we have work to do, I think it is an important and historical moment for Hong Kong.
