A model of the cruiser Zhiyuan (scale 1:100) to be displayed at an exhibition entitled "Conflict and War: China and Japan 1894-95" at the Hong Kong Museum of Coastal Defence from tomorrow (August 22). Made in Britain, the fast cruiser Zhiyuan was delivered to China in 1887. In the Naval Battle of the Yellow Sea, captain Deng Shichang intended to strike the Japanese cruiser Yoshino, but eventually the Zhiyuan was badly hit and sank.
