CSSA caseload for June

     The overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) caseload in June showed a drop of 781 cases, representing a decrease of 0.3 per cent compared to that in May, according to the latest CSSA caseload statistics released by the Social Welfare Department today (July 23).

     The total CSSA caseload at the end of June stood at 257 214 (see attached table), with a total of 392 600 recipients.

     Analysed by case nature, low earnings cases and unemployment cases registered month-to-month decreases of 1.5 per cent and 1 per cent to 8 281 cases and 19 891 cases respectively.  Old age cases also dropped by 0.3 per cent to 150 020 cases.

     Permanent disability cases remained steady at 18 382 cases.  Ill-health cases and single-parent cases showed a slight increase of 0.3 per cent to 25 126 and 30 192 cases respectively.
