Following is the transcript of remarks by the Secretary for Development, Mr Paul Chan, at the question-and-answer session of the media session on the quarterly land sale programme for July to September 2014 today (June 30):
Reporter: Is the Government confident in meeting its housing supply target? What is the progress?
Secretary for Development: In terms of land supply for housing development, our target for the current year is 18 800 units. This consists of supply from various sources, including government land sale, urban renewal projects, MTRC (MTR Corporation) projects as well as private sector lease modifications and redevelopment. So far we have just finished one quarter; things are on track. We are trying our very best on all fronts to expedite the supply of housing land. On Government land sale, as you may be aware, many of the sites require rezoning. We are working very hard at the district level to gain district and local support. As to the other sources, for example urban renewal and Mass Transit Railway development projects, these are progressing on track. We are prudently optimistic about meeting the full-year target.
