Opening remarks by SDEV on quarterly land sale programme for July to September 2014
************************************************************

Following is the transcript of the opening remarks by the Secretary for Development, Mr Paul Chan, at a media session on the quarterly land sale programme for July to September 2014 today (June 30):

In the coming quarter, which is the second quarter of this financial year, the Government will be selling four sites, which are capable of producing about 2 100 units. These four sites are situated in Fanling, Tuen Mun, Pak Shek Kok and Lei Yue Mun. The one in Pak Shek Kok was tendered previously, but the tender was unsuccessful. We have included it back in the Land Sale Programme and will tender it in the next quarter.

In order to ensure the supply of a minimum number of flats from these sites, we are going to stipulate a certain number of flats to be produced by three sites. These sites are in Lei Yue Mun, Tuen Mun and Fanling. Altogether they are required to produce not less than 1 300 units.

Apart from the Government's Land Sale Programme, the MTRC (MTR Corporation) is going to re-tender the site at Tai Wai Station. That site will be capable of producing about 2 900 units. So, in the coming quarter, Government land sale plus the MTRC project will together produce about 5 000 units.

In the previous quarter, we have tendered six sites, capable of producing about 1 500 units. In the same period the URA (Urban Renewal Authority) is calling tender for the site in Kwun Tong, which is capable of producing about 1 700 units. So, in the first quarter of this financial year, the URA project plus government land sale sites together will produce about 3 200 units; coupled with the Government sites to be launched in the coming quarter and the MTRC Tai Wai Station project, the two quarters altogether will produce about 8 200 units.

MTRC is also actively considering further tendering of other sites in the LOHAS Park in the latter part of this year. Apart from the Government Land Sale Programme in the residential area, we are going to put up a site for sale in Tung Chung for hotel development. That particular site will be able to produce about 1 100 hotel rooms. Thank you.
