CSSA caseload for May

     The overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) caseload in May showed a drop of 654 cases, representing a decrease of 0.3 per cent compared to that in April, according to the latest CSSA caseload statistics released by the Social Welfare Department today (June 18).

     The total CSSA caseload at the end of May stood at 257 995 (see attached table), with a total of 392 831 recipients.

     Analysed by case nature, low earnings cases and unemployment cases registered month-to-month decreases of 1.5 per cent and 0.8 per cent to 8 405 cases and 20 099 cases respectively. Old age cases also dropped by 0.2 per cent to 150 518 cases.

     Ill-health cases remained steady at 25 056 cases.  Permanent disability cases and single parent cases showed a slight increase of 0.1 per cent and 0.4 per cent respectively to 18 373 and 30 108 cases.
