The Yokohama Dragon Boat Races today (June 8) drew big crowds at the promenade of Yamashita Park in Yokohama, Japan.

One of the highlights was the Hong Kong Cup Dragon Boat Race sponsored by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Tokyo (HKETO). The championship went to Paddle Holic, which beat 20 teams in the race and was presented with the trophy by the Deputy Hong Kong Economic and Trade Representative (Tokyo), Mr Alvis Tsui.

The dragon boat races, held since 1994, this year attracted a total of 190 teams to compete in the four-day event spread across two consecutive weekends.

Alongside the races, the HKETO also set up a booth and display panels to introduce to park visitors and race spectators Hong Kong's advantages. Quizzes about Hong Kong were conducted and promotional leaflets were distributed to let visitors know more about the latest developments in Hong Kong.

The HKETO aims to promote cultural exchanges between Hong Kong and Japan as well as enhance Japanese people's understanding of Hong Kong through participating in the event.
