In "L'Après-midi d'un Foehn - Version 1", the Compagnie Non Nova of France uses the simple idea of air currents to inject vitality into everyday objects, turning plastic bags into dancing ballerinas. The show was recommended by The Scotsman newspaper as one of the five must-see children's shows at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2013.
Three madcap talents light up the stage in the concert "Musical Magic" - a master of woodwind instruments, an exceptional accordionist and a riveting magician. Featuring masterpieces by Saint-Saëns, Haydn and Chopin, this magical concert adds fun to classical music.
Performed by the Companhia de Música Teatral (Portugal), the music-theatre production "AliBaBach for toddlers" is best for children aged 3 to 4. Occasionally accompanied by simple toy instruments, two performers sing themes by Bach and other composers, using body language and "baby voices" to open up the imagination of toddlers.
Tickets for these additional performances will be available at URBTIX from May 30 (Friday) onwards. Half-price tickets are available for full-time students, senior citizens aged 60 or above, people with disabilities and their minders, and Comprehensive Social Security Assistance recipients. Booking discounts of up to 20 per cent are available for other IAC full-price performing arts/film programmes.
The IAC, organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, will run from July 11 to August 17 featuring more than 410 events for family entertainment. Programme brochures are available at URBTIX outlets or at the carnival website www.hkiac.gov.hk.
