Hongkong Post today (April 30) announced that a set of special stamps titled the "International Day of Families" will be released for sale with associated philatelic products on May 15 (Thursday).
The family is the mainstay of society. The United Nations proclaimed 1994 as the International Year of the Family, and chose May 15 as the International Day of Families to promote awareness of issues relating to families in the international community. Hongkong Post will issue a set of special stamps on the theme of the International Day of Families to highlight the importance of upholding family values. Using a hand motif, this set of four stamps represents the core values of a family: filial piety, love, harmony and care.
Official First Day Covers will go on sale at $1.2 each at all post offices from May 2. The stamps and the associated philatelic products will be displayed at the General Post Office, Tsim Sha Tsui Post Office, Tsuen Wan Post Office, Sha Tin Central Post Office and Tuen Mun Central Post Office from the same day. Advance orders for servicing self-provided covers will be accepted at all philatelic offices from May 2 to 8.
Information about this special stamp issue and associated philatelic products is available on Hongkong Post's website at www.hongkongpost.hk and the Hongkong Post Mobile App.
