CSSA caseload for March

     The overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) caseload in March showed a drop of 341 cases, representing a decrease of 0.1 per cent, when compared to that in February, according to the latest CSSA caseload statistics released by the Social Welfare Department today (April 23).

     The total CSSA caseload at the end of March stood at 259 422 (see attached table), with a total of 393 353 recipients.

     Analysed by case nature, low earnings cases and unemployment cases registered month-to-month decreases of 1.6 per cent and 1.1 per cent to 8 613 cases and 20 536 cases respectively. Ill-health cases also dropped by 0.2 per cent to 25 111 cases.

     Permanent disability cases and old age cases both registered a slight increase of 0.1 per cent to 18 362 cases and 151 183 cases respectively. Single parent cases also showed a slight increase of 0.7 per cent to 29 852 cases.
