Arts Corners at LCSD parks
**************************

A new phase of the Arts Corner will be launched at Victoria Park (VP) of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) from this Sunday (April 6). Members of the public will have the chance to find various interesting handicrafts and arts services stalls there.

The 15th phase of the Arts Corner will run from April 6, 2014, to March 29, 2015 and will be open from 10am and 6pm on Sundays and public holidays at the park's South Pavilion Plaza. There will be 26 stalls selling handicrafts including accessories, paper clay goods, decorations, floral artworks, cloth artworks and soap as well as photography services. The Arts Corner will be suspended during major events.

"The Arts Corner aims at enhancing the public interest in arts and enriching the arts atmosphere in Hong Kong. It will also make the parks more appealing and enjoyable for park-goers," a spokesman for the department said.

"Visitors can select their favourite handicrafts or artworks. The stalls, specially designed by stallholders, will provide a wide array of items and products catering to various interests. Visitors will certainly find their favourite items," he added.

In addition to VP, another arts corner has started at Hong Kong Park (HKP) while the one at Kowloon Park (KP) will start in June.

The 14th phase of HKP Arts Corner is now open between noon and 6pm on every Saturday, Sunday and public holiday. It will continue until December 31 at the outdoor area near the Flagstaff House Museum of Tea Ware. There are 10 stalls in operation including handicrafts stalls selling crystals, brooches, ornaments, crystal paintings, handicraft pictures, paper craftworks, cloth artworks and soap crafts, as well as arts stalls providing services in painting, calligraphy, silhouette cutting, sketching and caricature drawing.

As for the 16th phase of the Arts Fun Fair at KP, it will begin on June 1 at the Loggia and will be open from 1pm to 7pm during Sundays and public holidays until May 31, 2015. The fair will feature a total of 30 stalls selling handicrafts and artworks or providing arts services.

Individuals and subvented non-governmental organisations who are interested in operating the stalls in this new round of KP Arts Fun Fair are welcome to submit applications with April 22 as the application deadline. Prospectuses and application forms are now available at 1/F, Kowloon Park Management Office, 22 Austin Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon. They can also be downloaded from the park's website: www.lcsd.gov.hk/parks/kp/en/arts_and_crafts.php .

"The Arts Corners have been well received by the general public. Additionally, other specialised facilities in the parks also win the hearts of visitors, where they can enjoy fun-filled weekends," the spokesman said.
