Customs seizes 5.5kg of ketamine in Mong Kok (with photo)

     Hong Kong Customs yesterday (April 1) seized 5.5 kilogrammes of ketamine and arrested two men in an anti-narcotics operation in Mong Kok. The market value of the drug was about $660,000.

     Customs officers intercepted two men in a shopping arcade in Mong Kok yesterday afternoon and found a total of 5.5kg of ketamine in their shoulder bag and backpack. The two men were arrested.

     The two arrestees, aged 19 and 22, were charged with trafficking in a dangerous drug and will appear at the Kowloon City Magistrates' Courts tomorrow (April 3).

     Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, drug trafficking is a serious offence. The maximum penalty is life imprisonment and a fine of $5 million.
