Unlock Dancing Plaza to stage new production "Wanderer"
*******************************************************

Acclaimed local modern dance company Unlock Dancing Plaza (Unlock) will stage its new production, "Wanderer", in April.

During life's choppy voyage, a wanderer is constantly buffeted from all sides and is as disoriented as a spinning top. Performing on a movable 7-metre diameter circular stage and interacting with a specially designed video, four dancers will tumble and stumble their way, thus portraying life's ups and downs, its motions and emotions.

The production's choreography and set concept has been created by the company's artistic director, Ong Yong Lock. The dancers will include James Yau, Janet Wu, Natalie Mak and Chen Hsin Yu.

Unlock was founded in 2002. Bold and innovative, the company seeks to collaborate and interact with artists from different disciplines, with a view to revealing life's intricacies and oddities through dance. By liberating itself from the usual constraints of the stage, the company strives to explore new ways to appreciate and experience dance. Unlock is also committed to promoting creative dance education by organising outreach activities and performances in schools and the community.

Unlock's recent theatre productions include the serial dance theatres "Walls 44", "3D Museum in Motion", "Hose of Dancing Water", "Kung Fu and Tofu", "Chopin VS Ca" and "Love Sick". Its production, "Phoenix III ¡V Read the World with Your Heart", was recognised at the Hong Kong Dance Awards 2009.

"Wanderer" is one of the programmes in the "Dance x Multimedia" series presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department. It will be staged at 8pm on April 25 and 26 (Friday and Saturday) and at 3pm on April 26 and 27 (Saturday and Sunday) at the Studio Theatre of the Hong Kong Cultural Centre.
